"What Water Means to Me" Drawing Competition

Recently, Veolia Water held a drawing contest called "What Water Means to Me." We posed the question "What does water mean to you?" to our employee's children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and asked them to draw their answer! It was an opportunity for our employees to talk to their family members about the work we do every day in more than 550 communities. We received submissions from children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Below are the winning submissions!

Our grand prize winner was second grader Nicolas Lounders, son of Gene Lounders, Maintenance Tech I. Nicolas titled his drawing "Clean Water Keeps the World Alive." His highly conceptual drawing illustrates the harmful effects of pollution on nature.

The winner in the 4th-5th grade category was fifth grader Kylie Kuhn, daughter of Mike Kuhn, Area Manager. Kylie's meticulous display of ways we can conserve water in "The Wonderful World of Water", truly showcases her creative ideas!

The winner in the Kindergarten-1st grade category was Kindergartener Savannah Mongie, daughter of Jonathan Mongie, Director, Asset Management. Savannah's drawing, "Waste Water, Wrong Way; Good Water, Right Way," shows that even at such a young age, she knows the importance of saving this precious resource!

I think this contest was a really good format for educating kids about the importance and scarcity of water in the world. Plus, they can have a lot of fun in the process!
