Scalfeed (Coker Feed)

Scalfeed™ is a patented technology that is used to introduce solids to the feed side of the coker. This is the only way to introduce solids into a flexi or fluid-bed coker. Scalfeed™ also has some advantages for delayed cokers. Scalfeed™ is a homogenous blend of recovered oil and solids, with a very low concentration of water. Scalfeed™ is 35-45% solids, by weight, less than 3% water and the remainder is oil.

Clean water discharged from our 3-Phase Centrifuge is returned to the customer. Cake from the centrifuge is transferred into a high energy mix tank (HEMT) where centrifuged oil is blended with centrifuge cake in the HEMT to adjust the oil and solids ratio. The HEMT utilizes a high sheer mixer to produce a stable slurry mixture of oil, water and solids. This "wet" Scalfeed™ is then transferred into our patented slurry dryer. Steam, is used to remove water by evaporation. The Scalfeed™ is then injected through the feed side of a facility's Coker.

• Scalfeed™ can be introduced through a quill in the upper 1/3 of the Drum, or it may be mixed directly to the coker feed

• There is no chance of odors or hotspots when the drum is de-headed.
• Wide timing window for introduction of Scalfeed. It may be added at any time after 1 hour of starting the coking cycle to 1 hour prior to ending the coking cycle.

• Greater solids loading translate into less waste volume going to the coker than quench side injection.
